Pacific Rim XBLA game outed

A posting on the Australian Classification Board website has revealed a Pacific Rim videogame tie-in.

Pacific Rim Game_coverStated in the listing as being by Yuke’s – responsible for the WWE series – the game has been given an M rating for moderate impact themes and violence. It also mentions an online element, which may mean a multiplayer option is available in-game.

Additionally, a posting on the NeoGAF forums show a packshot for the game (shown right) which suggests it will be a digital-only release, on the XBLA platform, and the fact that the classification listing shows Yuke’s as the game’s publisher only furthers that suggestion.

It is being speculated that THQ may have originally been working on the game, and have been known in the past to have strong ties with director Guillermo del Toro, so it is possible that THQ’s much-publicised financial difficulties led to Yuke’s taking the giant robot baton and developing the title.

The NeoGAF source also revealed some screenshots for the game;

No release date is yet known for the game, however the film – now holder of the ‘World’s Largest Poster/Banner’ award – is out on July 12.
