A new report has claimed that two new heroes have been lined up to join The Avengers in the superhero sequel.
EW are reporting that their sources have confirmed that twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch have been added to the early scripts. There is a slight wrinkle to the characters, in that they are originally from the X-Men universe, and are actually children of Magneto. Of course, all film rights to X-Men belong to Fox, but the characters can still be used in a Marvel film, providing that the characters’ backstory and parental lineage are not mentioned, presumably. Interesting to see how Marvel get around that one.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige is playing understandably coy on the subject, only saying;
“I’m not confirming or denying. The draft could change six months from now.”
It has been long speculated that there would be new group members for the sequel, and it remains to be seen if these will be the first two.
The Avengers 2 starts filming next year, with a release date scheduled for July 1 2015.
