Apple have unveiled a new edition of the iPod Touch.
Rather surprisingly – as there was no prior warning to this iDevice’s release announce – Apple have announced this new model, which is a stripped down version of the Touch announced last year.
It is exactly the same size, it has the same 4-inch screen with Retina Display, and hosts the same dual-core A5 processor inside. The changes start with the camera, as although it retains the front-facing FaceTime HD camera, the 5-megapixel main iSight camera has gone. It is also 0.06 ounces lighter.
Storage-wise, the device comes with 16GB, a lot less than the 32GB and 4GB models currently available. Aesthetic-wise, there are also some amendments. Unlike the other iPod Touch models available in various colours., this new version comes in only silver.
This new product release will only increase speculation that Apple will shortly be announcing a stripped down – or shall we say, budget? – version of the iPhone. The WorldWide Developers Conference in June is going to be very interesting.
