PWInsider have reported on some injuries, issues with timing, and backstage grumbles following WrestleMania 29.
The site claims that Triple H had x-rays carried out on his arm, but other than some muscle bruising, there was no serious damage. However, his arm and hand were swollen following his punishing match with Brock Lesnar.
CM Punk, meanwhile, was in the wars as well. As those who watched the PPV saw, there was a spot during his match with The Undertaker where he came off the top turnbuckle and was supposed to put ‘Taker through the announce table with an elbow drop. However, the stubborn table refused to break or even more, and Punk came down hard on the desk. The feeling backstage was that it was “amazing” that Punk was able to finish the match with the same tempo, as he was reportedly in a lot of the pain after the match.
There were also some issues with the timing of the show last night, as we reported on earlier with the planned mixed tag-team match being scrapped from the show. Additional to that, there were also cuts made to the Alberto Del Rio-Jack Swagger match, including Swagger and Zeb Coulter making their entrance in a themed golf buggy. Also, as many noticed, WWE broke from tradition and did not have the national anthem sung at the start of the show. These cuts were made to afford the main three matches on the card additional time.
As well as timing concerns backstage, there were also some disgruntled mid-card talents who were unhappy that they were not booked for in-ring or backstage segments. On WrestleMania shows in the past, the company usually attempt to get as many members of the roster on the show as possible. As well as those complaints, the talent backstage also reportedly found it strange that United States champion Antonio Cesaro was not booked on the show.
