Michael Bay clarifies Ninja Turtles ‘aliens’ rumours

Michael Bay has denied that his upcoming Ninja Turtles reboot will depict the titular heroes as aliens from another planet.

Earlier reports claimed that the film – produced by Bay and directed by Jonathan Liebesman – would shake up the original comic story by having the turtles come from an alien planet, news that caused huge uproar amongst fans of the original stories. But now Bay, speaking to Moviefone, has clarified the reports.

“There was that quote saying that we’re making [the Ninja Turtles as] aliens. We’re not. It’s the ooze! It’s from the original source material. These are from the original writers, and I never went out to correct myself in the press. I do listen to the fans and I do want this to be authentic. I think they’re going to be really happy with this movie. When I see the digital stuff, the turtles look great.”

It has also recently been confirmed that the film will indeed be called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It will star Megan Fox, Danny Woodburn, Will Arnett, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek and Noel Fisher, and will be released on June 6, 2014.
