Former WWE champion close to return?

Batista is preparing to return to WWE, a new report has claimed.

The Wrestling Observer (via ewrestlingnews) states that Batista is in training for a return, and is close to the 290lbs that he was at when he last wrestled for the promotion. He has recently spoke to a desire to return to the company, and possibly working future angles with The Rock and Brock Lesnar.

For WWE’s part, this may be a good deal. It is a ‘name’ superstar coming back to TV, which in turn will attract fans to the product, and also with The Rock’s recent injury throwing doubt on his future – and that planned Rock/Brock clash at WrestleMania XXX – Batista may be the man to take Rock’s place.

Furthermore, the mainstream will soon be more familiar with Batista, considering his upcoming major role as Drax in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Having one of your talents in a major Marvel movie is only a good thing for WWE.

It appears that Triple H is responsible for the deal taking place, and considering Batista’s much-publicised reluctance to go full-time once more, it would seem that he has been able to negotiate a limited schedule deal, akin to Rock and Brock, though whether he is in a position to demand the kind of money and dates as they are on is another question. Batista is not seen on the same level as those two, and that public perception would surely have an impact on any deal that is/has been agreed.
