Batman: Arkham Origins announced; Vita and 3DS also getting a new Batman title

The next Batman game in the series has been confirmed. Batman: Arkham Origins has been announced, through Game Informer.

The magazine have revealed that Warner Bros. Games Montreal will take over with development from Rocksteady, who worked on Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. The studio will have full access to the Unreal engine at Rocksteady in order to retain the look of previous Batman titles.

As previously rumoured, the game will be a prequel, taking place years before Asylum and City, with a younger Bruce Wayne/Batman coming up against his famous enemies for the first time.

Those of you more observant and familiar with Bat history will recognise Deathstroke in the above image.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC on October 25.

Additionally, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate has also been announced for the Vita and 3DS.

Game Informer says that Blackgate will be a “completely separate experience that takes place after the events of Arkham Origins“. Armature Studio is developing the game, which will be also be released on October 25.
