Apple’s planned iRadio service has reportedly received backing and support from major record labels.
A report in The Verge claims that Warner Bros and Universal Music Group are close to agreeing deals with the tech giant to provide content for the purported music streaming service. Sources close to The Verge claim that Apple’s service will be similar to that of rival Pandora, however it will offer more on-demand features. Specific details of those features were not revealed.
Apple have allegedly offered 6 cents for every 100 songs streamed, which is approximately half of what Pandora currently pay.
Apple have yet to to officially announce a streaming music service, but a “radio button” found on jailbroken iPads appeared to confirm the rumours. It has been speculated that Apple will confirm the service at World Wide Developers conference in June.
