Shane Black talks Iron Man 3; last film for the character?

Shane Black has been speaking about Iron Man 3, and the future for both the character, and actor Robert Downey Jr.

Talking to Premiere magazine about the film, Black spoke of the “challenge” of making another instalment to the franchise, as well as future Iron Man movies.

“The challenge is that your movie is not just a new installment of the adventures of Iron Man, but the continuation of something, a new chapter that had to be told….I have the feeling that the story we developed for Iron Man 3 actually concluded a trilogy, while [also] leaving the door open to a fourth.

And on rumours that this film is Downey Jr.’s last as Iron Man.

“I had a lot of discussions on this subject: ‘Is this the last Iron Man for Robert?’ Something tells me that it will not be the case, and that he’ll be seen in a fourth or fifth.”

Iron Man 3 is due for release on April 26 in the UK, and April 3 in the US.
