Ron Gilbert the creator of such greats as The Secret of Monkey Island and more recently The Cave, has announced his resignation from Tim Schafer’s studio Double Fine.
Gilbert announced his departure on his blog;
“Now that The Cave is done and unleashed on an unsuspecting world, it’s time for me to move on from Double Fine and plot my next move. So many games left to be designed,” he said.
“I want to thank all the amazing people at Double Fine for all their hard work on The Cave. It was a true pleasure to work with every one of them over the past two years. So much fun. I will miss them all. And of course to Tim for creating the opportunity to co-me there and make The Cave.”
Gilbert’s resignation probably comes as a surprise to no one as he’s not one to sit still. Having joined Double Fine in 2010, Ron’s presence seemed to feel as though he was there for development of The Cave and nothing more.
Currently Ron Gilbert has teamed up with Clayton Kauzlaric to work on an iOS side project, Scurvy Scallywags in The Voyage to Discover the Ultimate Sea Shanty: A Musical Match-3 Pirate RPG.
