Captain America sequel casts one of it’s villains

A new villain has been cast for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, according to a new report.

Latino Review are claiming that UFC fighter Georges St-Pierre has signed on to play the role of  Batroc the Leaper. Those familiar with the comics will know Batroc as a mercenary who has served in the French Foreign Legion, a master of savate, and a regular foe of Captain America.

For St-Pierre, this would be his biggest acting gig yet, with Death Warrior and Never Surrender the only entrants on his CV thus far. This casting certainly mirrors that of Dave Bautista, recently cast in another upcoming Marvel blockbuster, Guardians of the Galaxy.

Fighters in a previous (or current, in St-Pierre’s case) career, with average movie resumes, getting cast in big-time comic book movies. There seems to be a pattern emerging.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is due for release on April 4 2014.
