New Xbox ‘to feature Siri-like voice control’

A new report claims that Microsoft’s new Xbox console will feature a speech recognition system similar to Apple’s Siri program.

The Verge are claiming that the Xbox will have the voice control, and will allow users to control the console in a more advanced way than the basic level of voice interaction in use on current Xbox consoles, which will apparently be capable of interpreting more natural phrases. Furthermore, the website claims that the system will give answers to queries with some form of automated voice.

The advanced voice recognition system will also reportedly work in conjunction with the Kinect’s visual detection, so for instance multiplayer games will be suggested by the console when the Kinect picks up a new player in view.

This new report corresponds with reports last year about job listings from Microsoft looking for someone to focus on developing on the “future of user input”.
