Microsoft preparing event for new XBox reveal?

A newly-registered web domain has prompted speculation that Microsoft could be preparing to announce it’s next console.

WHOIS shows that was registered yesterday, by U.S. Techs. Previously, a domain for Microsoft’s 2013 Hosting Summit website in included the text ‘this site is hosted for Microsoft by U.S. Techs’.

Of course, any speculation so far is just that, but with Sony holding their own dedicated announcement conference earlier this week for the PlayStation 4, this could be a sign that Microsoft may be about to follow suit and reveal their new console. Various industry sources have suggested that April is a likely timeframe for such a reveal.

A Microsoft spokesman did give a short statement to IGN concerning the domain registration;

“Microsoft often acquires various domain names as part of its ongoing business strategy, but beyond that we have no comment.”
