Arkedo Studio have announced that they will shortly be ceasing game development.
The studio – who made the “hard as balls” Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit – have stressed that while they will not be closing, they will not making any new games. In a blog post, Arkedo creative director Aurelien Regard confirmed the news, which will come into effect once production completes on two as-yet-unannounced titles.
“Arkedo stops after seven years of super great moments, but the situation is subtle, and generally few people take the time to understand. Before we get into quick news posts like ‘Bankrupt! Shutting down! Apocalypse!’, let’s take the time to explain things calmly.
“Arkedo, the company, is still here. But no one’s employed anymore. No more games are produced either.
“Arkedo hasn’t closed down and is not bankrupt, going into administration or whatever big word, as it is managed properly … After Hell Yeah!, we’ve made two small games which are finished but you’re not aware of them yet. We hope to release them soon.”
Regard also explained that the company demise came about due to a combination of funding troubles and over-reaching with Hell Yeah!, as well as the co-founders of Arkedo having differing goals.
