Apple CEO did not want to sue Samsung

Apple CEO Tim Cook was opposed to filing a lawsuit against Samsung, a new report has revealed.

A feature on Reuters has claimed that Cook did not want to initiate litigation against Samsung over design similarities to Apple’s iPhone. Cook has previously been quoted as saying;

“I’ve always hated litigation. We just want people to invent their own stuff….We’d prefer to settle, not battle.”

It’s no secret that Jobs was always in favour of challenging rivals – his declaration of “thermonuclear war” is well-known – whereas Cook is more concentrated on keeping a working relationship with Samsung, who provide Apple with supplies for their products. Industry analysts have estimated that Apple have purchased approximately $8billion worth of supplies from Samsung in the last year alone. Apple and Samsung have shared a steady supplier relationship since 2005, and it seems Cook is anxious to maintain that.
