Marvel boss: “Doctor Strange is part of Phase Three”

Doctor Strange has been announced as the latest Marvel character to be getting his own movie.

Marvel head Kevin Feige told MTV that the character “is great and original” and will join Ant-Man as part of Marvel’s Phase Three in their Cinematic Universe.

“Doctor Strange, which I’ve been talking about for years, is definitely one of them. … He’s a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he’s totally different from anything else we have, just like Guardians of the Galaxy. He’s totally different from anything we’ve done before, as is Ant-Man, which keeps us excited.”

“Ant-Man is definitely part of Phase Three. Like Iron Man 3, it’s certainly set in the Marvel Universe, but it’s also through the lens of Edgar Wright — which is the only reason we’re making the movie.”

Phase Two will consist of Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers 2, and then Phase Three will begin, and now we know Ant-Man and Doctor Strange will be a part of it. Knowing this, and ooking at the list of Marvel films and release dates (see below), a Doctor Strange movie could be released in 2015 before Ant-Man, or be Marvel’s first film of 2016.

April 26 2013 – Iron Man 3

November 8 2013 – Thor: The Dark World

April 4 2014 – Captain America: The Winter Soldier

August 1 2014 – Guardians of the Galaxy

May 1 2015 – The Avengers 2

November 6 2015 – Ant-Man
