Atari, famous for making such games as Pong and Asteroids, have been under the ownership of French company Atari S.A. since the early 2000’s. Figures actually show some success for the company, specifically on the digital and mobile platforms. Fiscal results for the last two years show profits of $4million and $11million respectively.

More interestingly, 17% of Atari’s revenue actually comes from the licensing of the company’s name for ‘retro’ merchandise. Atari are currently working on a new version of Pong with Zynga, and are also working on a ‘greatest hits’ collection from their back catalogue.
