Captain America sequel news

It seems that Steve Rogers’ love interest in the first Captain America film will not be back for it’s sequel.

Hayley Atwell – who played Peggy Carter –  recently told Time Out London that she will not be reprising her role in the follow-up. Of course, seeing as The Winter Soldier is set in the present, post-Avengers, day, it’s not all that surprising that we won’t be seeing Peggy. Rumours do suggest that the film will have flashbacks to Cap’s wartime days, so it’s possible Atwell will be making a cameo in these speculated scenes.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is due for release in 2014, and will feature Chris Evans returning as Captain America, along with Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson from The Avengers. Sebastian Stan will reprise his role as Bucky Barnes, while Anthony Mackie will play Falcon and Frank Grillo features as Crossbones.
